Historical Pothole Filled

Thanks to the St. Kitts & Nevis Historical society a piece of motoring history was recently discovered and unveiled. The above photo has a picture of the last pothole to be patched in The Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis and it occurred in 1940. Since then roads have been left to fall apart and are eventually repaved only under the following circumstances:

  • A member of the royal family visits. In such cases, their exact route is paved even if the road is not in need of it such as was done to Church Street on the last visit.
  • An election is nearing. In such cases, certain political strongholds are repaved even if they are minor side roads and not in need of repaving such as happened in late 2014 to many of the side streets between Warner Park and ValuMart and other side streets in Basseterre.
